Saucony Men's Hattori Running Shoe,Black/Slime Green,10 M US

Product Description

Slice down the road as fast and quiet as a ninja in the Men's Saucony Hattori Running Shoes. Saucony's most minimal and lightest shoe ever, it's meant to be a virtual extension of your foot. The ultralight stretch mesh upper is supported by a synthetic exoskeleton and soft suede overlays, and your foot locked in place with Velcro tabs. The high abrasion EVA midsole becomes a sculpted outsole with XT-900 carbon rubber inlays, and flex grooves in front of the metatarsals and toes. In keeping with the barefoot running philosophy it's a neutral stance shoe with 0 mm offset from heel to toe and it weighs a mere 4.4 oz per shoe. Since it is such a minimalist shoe we do recommend using it sparingly until your body has adapted to minimal shoe running. Like running barefoot, without the cuts from glass, it's the Hattori Running Shoes for men from Saucony.

  • Weight: 4.4 oz
  • UPPER: Ultralite Mesh
  • Exoskeleton Synthetic Lockdown
  • Soft Suede Overlays
  • MIDSOLE: High Abrasion EVA (EVA +)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Lightweight Neutral Trainer and Comfort Shoe, but NOT a Barefoot Shoe, September 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
For those expecting Hattori to be another barefoot-like shoe on par with VFF: You WILL be disappointed. While with its lightweight construction it may be classified as minimalist footwear, the Hattori is NOT really a barefoot (BF) shoe. The basis for this review is as a Running Trainer/Walking Shoe, and perhaps as a transition from traditional running shoes to more minimal BF shoes.

I have two pairs of the Hattori, with nearly 130 miles between them, and for longest runs of 7-8 miles. These are really good minimal cushioned shoes that fit the niche between traditional neutral cushioned trainers and BF shoes like Vibram Five Fingers (VFF).

The Hattori is similar to Nike Free 3.0 in weight, flexibility and cushioning-- but with no heel-toe drop. They have a slightly tighter fit than NF with the slipper-like construction.

As a smaller framed middle-distance (5K/10K) fore/mid foot striker, this is becoming my favored trainer. They are light,... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic shoe but no socks = chafing, April 10, 2012
By
Bacci (Brussels, BE) - See all my reviews
Background: I run about 1800 miles per year, mostly on minimalistic shoes (VFF Bikila LS, Saucony Hattori) except for races with stretches of rough roads, rainy days and/or marathons for which I have a pair of grid type A5, Kinvara and Peregrines. At the moment I have 2 pairs of Hattori in rotation, one pair with about 100mi on and another one phasing out after about 500mi (soon a hole will start appearing in the sole worn flat).
While to my knowledge there are no scientific studies released yet confirming the positive effects of minimalistic running on reducing injuries, in my case it certainly made a big difference. Prior to a 6 month transition to minimalistic running I was a heel striker and had cases of ITBS and shin splints. Gradually phasing in VFF Bikila LS and Saucony Hattori helped me to adopt a lighter running style (higher cadence, shorter stride length, forefoot strike). I have been injury free since (knock on wood!) and my legs definitely feel better after a hard... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, October 5, 2011
I started running on the five fingers and loved them, but I do a lot of trail running so I started looking for a show with a thicker sole but still maintaining the minimalist feel. I found these on line and loved them! I have put about 200 miles on them and no issues they are the best shoe I have run with. The have a good free feeling to them and they are very light on my feet. I am personally not picky about whether or not they are snug like the five fingers I like that they feel like wearing a slipper. I am usually a 9.5 and that is what I purchased and I had no issues with the sizing they fit very nicely.
