I have normal arches and no significant pronation. I run mostly 5-8 mile trail runs in the rugged up-and-down of the Blue Ridge Mountain hiking trails. I tried the Montrail Fairhaven on a promotional trail run put on by the local running store. I liked the shoe so much I bought it straightaway.The tread is aggressive enough to handle the leaf beds, rocks, and roots of SW Virginia trails. It handles slick and broken ground with ease. There is plenty of grab for those long, tough uphills, and just enough cushioning to help fight gravity on some of the steeper downgrades. I've put in about 85 miles on this pair of shoes so far. They are very comfortable and relatively light. I'm not noticing any wear on the soles yet. Note: I have not tried these shoes on the road.
